Last week we were asked by Time Out Edinburgh to list a few of our favourite local retailers -
For seafood we almost always go to Eddie’s Seafood Market, which is something of an Edinburgh institution. The shop is decorated with kitsch fishing memorabilia, and stocked with plenty of marine delights from Scottish waters, including the delicious scallops we served at our Blackout supper.
Our favourite butcher is George Bower in Stockbridge. Never one to shy away from hanging various unfortunate beasties in the window, their down-to-earth approach and reasonable prices means they have built up a loyal following for sixty-eight years - including Alright Treacle!
When we're looking for more specialist items we like to pop into Earthy for more unusual fruit and vegetables, and Archipelago Bakery is perfect for purchasing solely organic, artisan breads, whatever your dietary requirements.
